Microsoft Designer is a new tool powered by OpenAI’s DALL-E 2 that enables users to create stunning designs quickly.

It is part of Microsoft’s 365 Copilot offerings and aims to provide an alternative to PowerPoint for creating designs such as social media posts, banners, invitation cards, logos, and more.

Users can start with their own images or use Microsoft’s AI to automatically generate images based on their vision.

A notable feature of Microsoft Designer is its search bar, which utilizes DALL-E by OpenAI to generate graphics based on text descriptions.

The integration of DALL-E 2 allows Microsoft Designer to create realistic and visually appealing artwork for various projects, making it a versatile and powerful design tool.

Getting Started With Microsoft Designer

Microsoft Designer Copilot

Once you open Microsoft Designer at designer.microsoft.com, you will be greeted with a “Let’s start with your content” pop-up. You can then proceed to describe your design vision in text, which will enable the system to generate visual and customizable layouts based on your description. Alternatively, you can also use an existing image as a starting point for your design. Microsoft Designer uses AI-powered technology to generate graphics and layouts based on your inputs, allowing you to create entirely new images or modify existing ones to suit your needs.

“This is a new and evolving system, so it may create things you didn’t expect. If you find a creation unexpected or offensive, send us feedback so we can improve it,” Microsoft warned.

Once you have selected an image from Microsoft AI or added your own image to the canvas in Microsoft Designer, you will see design ideas appearing on the right side of the screen based on your project’s description and the selected image. These design ideas will be generated by the AI-powered technology integrated into Microsoft Designer. You can then choose a template from the design ideas and provide a headline for your project. As you make these selections, you will see updated designs that match your preferences.

After selecting a design, you can start customizing it according to your requirements. Microsoft Designer offers various customization options, allowing you to modify elements such as text, colors, fonts, images, and layout to create a design that meets your specific needs. You can experiment with different customization options until you are satisfied with the final result.

In Microsoft Designer, the central focus of your design is prominently displayed in front of you, with a range of tools available on the left-hand side of the workspace to help you bring your vision to life. As you work on your design, it is automatically saved, ensuring that your progress is preserved.

You have the option to choose from various visuals that are tailored to your design, or you can upload your own shape, illustration, photo, or icon to further personalize your design. Adding text is also easy, with the ability to insert a heading, subheading, or body text, and choosing from different text styles to match your preferences.

To enhance the visual appeal of your design, you can select a color scheme and text style combination that perfectly aligns with your vision. With a wide range of options available, you can customize the experience to achieve the precise design that you visualize.

In addition to the tools and customization options, Microsoft Designer also provides various options at the top of the workspace for further design control and refinement. With the abundance of templates, visuals, photos, text styles, shapes, colors, and more, you have the flexibility to create a design that is tailored to your unique requirements.
